Rally Ireland is Ireland's bid for the World Rally Championship. This event is a joint initiative of Failte Ireland, the Northern Ireland Events Commitee and is supported be the Irish an British Governments. If Ireland is succesful, the WRC event would generate in excess of 30 million euro attracting more than 100,000 spectators. Ireland is one of six countries seeking a place in the WRC 2007/2008 calender. The other countries are Norway, Jordan, South Africa, Portugal and Poland.
